Carmen de Torres from Seville has agreed to be our Honourary President

Carmen de Torres is a beautiful person. She is a flamenco dancer and singer and teaches at her own studio in Castilleja de la Cuesta in Seville. She has inspired me to dance and encouraged me even when I've been sick and thought I may not dance again. Thanks Carmen and I can't think of a better person to be our President at the new studio. Hopefully Carmen will be here in February to teach a workshop at our new studio.

Patricia in Seville, June 2011

Seville, Patricia with Carmen de Torres and Carlos Robles

I arrived in Seville on Monday and am taking classes with beautiful dancer Carmen de Torres. I'm also being her stage manager for her school's performance on Thursday. I went to tablao 'Los Gallos' tonight and the dancing, song and guitar was exceptional. The only comment I would make is that I was not impressed by their wine!! Sangria next time for me please! Australia!

Patricia experiences flamenco in Oz

  • The Australia trip is going well! I have taken a flamenco class in Sydney with a very talented dancer called Anna Louise. She's given me some things to practice and taught me some bulerias.
  • I think I've heard it all now - there are flamenco guitar accompanied by didgereedoo CDs available!

Musicians - where are you?

To develop a worthwhile flamenco scene in Liverpool we need more musicians! We're currently relying on kind contributions from guitarists from beyond the city boundaries!!! In our great city famous for its music and musicians I know there is talent out there. If you are at all interested in any aspect of flamenco music and rhythm email us through the 'contact us' page and let us know you're around. We may have a guitar teacher who can offer workshop sessions on accompanying dancers/singers or solo flamenco guitar performance. It may also be possible to bring some artists over from Spain to facilitate workshops in singing, guitar and or cajon.
